Fishing Information
Fishing licenses go on sale February 18th each year and are valid through the last day in February. You can purchase
most licenses from county court clerks, sporting goods stores, hardware stores, boat docks, the TWRA website (tnwildlife.org)
and all TWRA regional offices. You can also call 1-888-814-8972 and get your Tennessee fishing and hunting licenses
instantly. There is an extra fee of $3.95 processing fee added for this service.
You must have a Tennessee license if you take, or attempt to take fish by any method or if you assist someone else to
do so. No fishing license is needed if you are:
- Under 13 years of age
- Fish on own farm land
or family land
- On military leave with orders
- Resident born before March 1, 1926
- Free fishing
day (a day in June)
For 2005, the cost for license was the following:
Annual hunting and fishing combination

Jr. Hunt/Fish/Trap (ages 13-15) $ 8.00
One-Day Fishing $

Annual Trout $12.00
* A permanent Senior Citizen Hunt/Fish/Trap
license is available from any license agent for a one-time fee, and valid for the rest of the license holder’s life.
This license can only be purchases when 65th birthday is reached.
